Back
to Main.
Due
to my fanatical obsession to movies, people often ask me to recommend them
something to watch. This is a list of some of the flicks I have enjoyed tremendously.
A lot of them are somewhat rare and might be a bit difficult to get a hold of,
but they can all be easily downloaded for free by the use of a program called
eMule. Get it here: www.emule-project.net
It might be a little difficult to understand at first, but once you get into
it, you can basically get everything you would ever want. I have gotten more
than 7000 movies and series with it, and even more full music records, audio
books, plays and whatever. Included in this list of movies are also the
“ed2k links”. Once you have installed eMule, you can then click
these links, and the movies will be added to your download list. If you have
questions on how to set up the program, or anything else, I recommend you
checking out a webpage called www.dead-donkey.com
There you’ll find tutorials, and a lot of really nice people that will
make an effort to help you out, in addition to almost all horror movies ever
made. And it’s all free, how great is that? I do know that this is all
illegal, and do encourage you to support the artists you like. My feeling is
that downloading stuff for free like this, should be used as a
“try-before-you-buy”. So if you like a movie/record/book/whatever
then go out and buy it.
As
you can see, I’m not finished working on it yet. If I’ve made some
mistakes, or written something that is incorrect, please let me know by sending
me an e-mail to shaneweb1@hblok.net
Enough
chit-chat. Here’s the list:

Season 1 Season 3 |
This is a
British animated sketch show, and it’s truly amazing. The humour is
quite twisted, and you can’t stop laughing at the poor bastards
portrayed. Check it out! Apparently season 4 is just in the making. |

Super
Troopers |
2001 |
|
Everybody’s
seen Super Troopers! It’s the best cop movie ever. Some Swedes ripped
it off badly in the movie called “Kopps” and a lot of people here

Kung Pow |
2002 |

Steve Odekerk
is one funny bastard! He is the guy who wrote the scripts for Jim Carrey hits
such as Ace Ventura 2 and Bruce Allmighty. He also made this gem. I’ve
seen it 5 times or so, and it’s often the subject of funny
conversations. If you don’t want to be in those situations where you
don’t know what people are talking about, and don’t get any of
the inside jokes, then you have to see this! You wont regret it. |
|
|
Thumb
Wars |
|
|
This is another
Steve Odekerk hit. It’s a Star Wars parody, where all the actors are
replaced with actual thums. It’s crazy! |
|
|
Shaolin
Soccer |
2001 |
|
Made by
Stephen Chow (the guy who later made Kung-Fu Hustle) this is the best sports
movie ever made. It’s almost surreal, like a live action anime movie.
See it! It was the success of this film, that later gave Chow the funds and
possibility to make Kung-Fu Hustle. Shaolin Soccer is somewhat similar, but
not as grand. It’s still very charming though. If you like this, then
you might also want to check out “The King of Cookery” by the
same director. |

Monday |
2000 |

Ever woken up
on a Monday, not remembering anything of the weekend? Well, that is what this
movie is about. It starts of quite slow, but builds to astonishing lunacy.
See it! |

Forbidden
Zone |
1980 |
|
This movie is
like no other. The only way I could describe it would be a mix of Monty
Python, Betty Boop and Alice in Wonderland. On acid. Everyone I’ve
shown it to are blown away by the craziness. Whatever you do, don’t
miss out on this one! |

Another movie
I’ve watched more times than I can remember. Even though it’s outrageously
funny, it also somehow manages to be quite deep and meaningful, if you think
about what the message of it all is. It changed my life. |

Not very many
people seem to know about this one. That’s really sad, because
it’s quite an entertaining little movie. The theme is moral decay, and
it goes totally wild. It sort of makes a comment about how everything seems
to get more and more fucked up, which sometimes seem to be very true. Luckily
there is still loads of fun to be had in the world. Like watching this movie.

Delikatessen |
1991 |
|
This is a
beautiful movie by Jean-Pierre Jeune, the guy who also made oddities as
“The City of Lost Children” as well as the equally beautiful
“Cinema Paradiso”. Not only is it very funny, but the way
it’s made is quite brilliant, like a cabaret or something. Don’t
miss out on this one! |
|
|
The Nine
Lives of Thomas Katz |
2000 |
|
Oh, this is a
weird one. REALLY weird!! The makers didn’t have much in terms of a
script, just a very rough idea of what they wanted the movie to be about.
They went out to different locations, and pretty much improvised every scene.
And yet it turned out quite interesting and funny. I like it a lot, but it
might not be everybody’s cup of tea… |
|
|
Human
Nature |
2001 |
|
Charlie
Kaufman (the guy who later wrote classics as “Being John
Malcovic”, “Adaptation” and “Eternal Sunshine of a
Spotless Mind”) also wrote the script for this film. It’s
basically about what it means to be human, and comes to some rather hilarious
conclusions. I think it might all be true, but you’ll have to decide for
yourself. |
|

Being
John Malkovich |

Kaufman
again. Just see it, it’s fabulous! |
|
|
Clerks |
1994 |
|
Kevin
Smith’s debut movie. He got a lot of credit cards which he exceeded all
limits on, to make this film. Quite a daring movie, but boy did it pay of!
Kevin also acts the role of Silent Bob in this movie, as well as most of the
other films he’s made. A lot of his other movies are somewhat good, but
I think it’s all a perfect example on how very often, good directors
don’t get better by having more money to play with, and less control on
the finished product. |
|
|
Monty
Python |
|
|
|
Oh,
there’s so much, I couldn’t even begin to name it all. Be sure to
check out some of the lesser known stuff, as the 2 episodes of Flying Circus
that they made in German, as well as the documentaries. They’re all
hilarious! |
|
Evening

2002 |

Boy does this
guy have some stories to tell! The whole thing is almost like a stand-up
comedy show, except for the fact that the jokes probably really are true! |
|
|
Ali G |
|
|
Ali’s
been around a long time. His first shows started back in 1995 or something,
and he just doesn’t stop. He loves to make other people feel
uncomfortable, and revels in his own fake stupidity. |
|
|
Braindead |
1992 |
|
Some people
will disagree strongly, but I always looked on this as a comedy. It’s
just so funny! It’s another of the reasons to why Peter Jackson should be
considered an awesome director. And there are no rings in it. Imagine that! |
|
|
Idiots,
The |
1998 |
|
Oh Von Trier,
how wonderful you are. This movie is nothing less than brilliant. I’ve been
trying to do some of the stuff in the film for myself, and had quite a bit of
fun with it. =) |
|
|
Clay
Pigeons |
1998 |
|
It’s
wicked, dark and utterly funny! Joaquin Phoenix and Vince Vaughn do
marvellous acting jobs. There is a bit of confusion going on about the title
and why it’s called that. Now I’ve never the an official
statement from the director, but my take on it is that clay pigeons are the
things that are used for fire practice, and that is pretty much what happens
to the main character, Clay, in the movie as well. He’s getting fired
at from all directions. And that’s very funny! |
|
|
Two
Hands |
1999 |
|
A bit of an
Ozzie gem this one. I’ve been to several of the filming locations and
had great fun recognizing the places in the movie. The screenwriting, acting,
directing as well as everything else is just perfect. See it!! |
|
|
BASEketball |
1998 |
|
With the
legendary David Zucker directing, and both Trey Parker and Matt Stone playing
the lead roles, how can you go wrong? Another hilarious film. |
|
|
Cannibal,
the Musical |
1994 |
|
The movie
Trey Parker flunked out of school to make. The pacing is somewhat uneven, and
sometimes the jokes are a little far away from each other, but it’s
still an entertaining movie, and shows some of the talent that he later
utilized to make |
|
|
Kung-Fu
Hustle |
2004 |
|
Everybody’s
probably seen this by now, so I wont write much about it. Suffice to say
it’s cinematic perfection. |
|
|
Buffet Froid |
1979 |
|
What a gem!
Gérard Depardieu is outrageously funny! Just like “Eating Raoul”
this also makes a comment on moral decay in the world. It’s very cleverly
made, and so stupid you wont believe what you’re seing. |
|
|
Airplane |
1980 |
|
The golden
days of the Zucker brothers! Leslie Nielsen used to be so funny. Too bad
he’s not anymore. |
|
|
Top
Secret |
1984 |
|
More Zucker
madness. Val Kilmer does an amazing job acting, and he also sings all the
songs himself. My favourite scene is about half-way, where they actually filmed
everything backwards, only to turn it around later. It looks totally surreal! |
|
|
Dirty
Work |
1998 |
|
Oh how nice
it would be to have someone else do all your dirty work. That’s what
this movie is about. |
|
|
Howard
Stern's Private Parts |
1997 |
|
Howard Stern
might be quite overrated, and not that funny anymore, but this movie is still
quite good, if you want some simple entertainment. |
|
|
Half
Baked |
1998 |
|
I’ve
seen it many many times, but never sober. The film just makes you want to get
stoned. So if you don’t like weed, you probably shouldn’t watch
it. |
|
|
Bad
Taste |
1987 |
|
Make sure to
also watch the making of documentart “Good Taste Made Bad Taste”.
It’ll show you just how amazing the job Peter Jackson did to make this
movie was. Lord of the Rings? Phew. Give me Bad Taste any day instead. |
|
|
Bananas |
1971 |
|
Woody Allen in
the good old days! The title couldn’t be more fitting. |
|
|
Sleeper |
1973 |
|
More Woody
Allen fun. This one is actually a Sci-Fi flick as well. Great fun! |
|
|
Hitchhikers
Guide to the Galaxy |
1978 |
|
No, not the
books, not the tv show, and not the new feature movie. This is the original
radio show. It’s amazing, and much funnier than all the rest. |
|
|
Murder By
Death |
1976 |
|
One of the
reasons to why Peter Sellers was once the king of comedy. |
|
|
Repo Man |
1984 |
|
Greatness!
Whatever happened to Emilio Estevez? This film is perfect. |
|
|
Idle
Hands |
1999 |
|
Another dirty
pleasure. Kind of makes you worry a bit more, if you ever have nights with
total blackouts where you can’t remember anything of what you were
doing, after you’ve seen this movie. Still funny though. |
|
|
Harold
& Maude |
1971 |
|
What a
beautiful love story this is! It’s about a young boy who cannot die and
thus constantly try to kill himself in different ways. It might be that he
actually can die and just fakes all his suicides to get his mother’s
attention, but I always like to think that he can’t die. It just makes
it a little bit weirder, and magical… But then he meets and falls in
love with Maude, an old lady who is just about ready to give up on life, but
wants one final whiff of joy before she goes out with a bang. |
|
|
Naken |
2000 |
|
Like
“Groundhog Day” only better. This one goes all the way. |
|
|
Yrrol |
1994 |
|
This might be
a little difficult to get ahold of, and sadly, to my knowledge there are no
enlish subtitles to be found. If you understand Swedish however, you should
not miss out on this one. |
|
|
Playtime |
1967 |
|
A ballet of
wonderful madness, choreographed to perfection. You really don’t need
to understand what the characters are talking about, as it’s all about
visual comedy. What a movie! |
|

The
Delicate Art of Parking |
2003 |

A quaint
little movie, very cute and entertaining. Ever been pissed off at a parking
officer? Well this film is about just that. |

funny. And a little bit serious as well. |

Most people
know about the Naked Gun movies. Well this is the series it was based on (also
by the Zuckers) and it’s so much better! If you can get ahold of it,
then you must see it! |

Sometimes it seems like I am the world’s only fan of this movie. I can’t understand why, because it’s absolutely brilliant! It’s sort of a satirical look on pop culture, fame and mindless idolization of people. Once you start thinking about the message of the movie, you kind of realize (hopefully) that it’s actually very true! They really hit the nail on the head with this |
