Hanjiefyer

Paint by Numbers, Paint by Pairs, Pixel Puzzels, Enigma, Mosaic and Nonograms are only some of the countless names Hanjie puzzles have around the world and at the moment seem only surpassed by Suduko when it comes to popular number crossword games. The basic principle is usually the same; discover a samll picture by solving a number puzzle.

My girlfriend has gotten quite addicted to these small puzzles, and after searching in vain for more puzzle books I thought, wouldn't it be fun to make own Hanjies. After some hours of Java programming, my Hanjiefyer take a standard image and converts it to a Hanjie puzzle ready to be printed or saved to file.

This image will produce the following puzzle, where the gray boxes are filled in for illustration purposes. The Hanjiefyer will not take the fun out of solving the puzzle.



So far, the Hanjiefyer is command line driven and does not let you solve the puzzle on screen. This might be ammended in the future, or if you feel creative, drop me a line and I'll add you to the Source Forge project.
